You Shouldn't Be Here

What are the odds of being born? Being here, on earth?

Imagine there was one life preserver thrown somewhere in some ocean, and simultaneously there is exactly one turtle in all of these oceans swimming underwater, somewhere. What are the odds that turtle sticks its head out of the water one time and happens to come up in the middle of that one life preserver thrown randomly into the oceans? Pretty slim is an understatement. Almost impossible. But it's actually similar to the odds of you being born. Conservative estimates put it around 1 in 400 trillion.

Those are pretty unfavorable odds. But, here you are. Not someone else, but you get to exist. It's almost too big a thought to fully comprehend. So, what gives? Was it just a random coincidence? Was it just someone's turn to be alive next, and it happened to be you? Doubtful...

The book of Luke tells us that "Indeed, the very hairs on your head are all numbered..." It seems God is a little too intentional for happy coincidences.

It's safe to assume that you are here for a reason. It doesn't have to be just one reason. I believe that you are primarily here to worship and live with God. But you may also be here to raise a child, start a company, help strangers, or all of the above.

You were created by God in His image. If God is intentional down to the hairs on your head, maybe that means "His image" has a sense of intentionality?
You might not know why exactly you're here, but it's a pretty good start to know it's not an accident. It might even be time to take an audit on what you're doing with your 1 and 400 trillion odd winnings.

Let's just dwell on that for today...
